Kurdistan Foundation Conducts KTTS Training in Erbil to Strengthen Digital Accessibility for Visually Impaired Participants

The Kurdistan Foundation conducted a two-day specialized training program on the Kurdish Text-to-Speech (KTTS) system at the Youth Hub in Erbil on March 31 and April 1st, 2026. The initiative aimed to enhance digital accessibility for visually impaired participants and follows the announcement of the “Innovation for Hope” project in October 2025 by its founder, Areen Barzani.

The training brought together 50 visually impaired participants and focused on practical, hands-on sessions designed to enable users to install, navigate, and effectively utilize the KTTS software across digital devices. The program emphasized real-world application to support independent access to Kurdish written content through assistive technology.

The initiative forms part of the broader “Innovation for Hope” project, which seeks to empower individuals with disabilities through modern technology and inclusive learning opportunities. It combines training with practical skill development to promote equal access to digital information.

Over the two-day workshop, participants engaged in structured exercises that strengthened their ability to independently use the KTTS system in daily life, enhancing both accessibility and confidence in using digital assistive tools.

Through this initiative, the Kurdistan Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to digital inclusion and the empowerment of visually impaired individuals by providing innovative solutions that expand access to information and opportunities.
