Kurdistan Foundation and Cambridge International School Sign Strategic Partnership to Empower Youth in Erbil

Kurdistan Foundation and Cambridge International School signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 30, 2026, in Erbil to strengthen academic excellence, empower youth, and enhance educational opportunities for students and teachers across the Kurdistan Region.

The partnership aims to expand access to quality education, improve teaching standards, and support long-term youth development through a range of academic and professional initiatives. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to promoting equal educational opportunities and equipping students and educators with modern skills aligned with international standards.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will implement several educational programs through Empower.KRD, an entity under the Kurdistan Foundation. The programs include 10 fully funded scholarships for public-school students who have achieved a GPA of 90 percent and above, providing talented students with greater access to high-quality education opportunities.

The partnership will also deliver capacity-building initiatives, benefiting 150 participants. This includes summer academic support programs for 50 students, pedagogical training for 50 teachers focused on modern teaching methodologies, and English language development programs for another 50 teachers aimed at strengthening communication skills and improving the quality of instruction.

A key component of the collaboration is the launch of the “Kurdistan Debate” program, which will focus on critical thinking, leadership, public speaking, and constructive dialogue. Within the initiative, Cambridge International School will serve as a strategic partner, while the Kurdistan Foundation will lead the implementation process.

Officials from both institutions described the partnership as an important step toward strengthening the educational sector and investing in the next generation of leaders in the Kurdistan Region. The initiative is expected to contribute to improved academic standards, stronger teacher capacity, and increased youth engagement in intellectual and leadership development.

The agreement reflects the Kurdistan Foundation’s broader mission of supporting education, innovation, and human development through sustainable initiatives that create long-term opportunities for young people and contribute to building a more knowledge-based and inclusive society.
