Kurdistan Foundation and the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre signed a Memorandum of Understanding on May 5, 2026, aimed at strengthening cooperation in crisis management, emergency preparedness, volunteer coordination, and workforce development across the Kurdistan Region.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment between both institutions to develop scientific and strategic approaches for disaster prevention, emergency response, and community resilience while investing in the potential of young people throughout the region.
Under the agreement, the two sides will collaborate on preparing and organizing youth volunteers through the Volunteer.KRD entity while also creating employment opportunities and supporting mechanisms for returnees and job seekers through the Jobs.KRD platform. The initiative seeks to strengthen social resilience, support workforce integration, and provide sustainable opportunities for youth and vulnerable communities.
Officials from both institutions emphasized the importance of organized volunteerism in times of crisis, noting that youth represent a critical national resource during emergencies and humanitarian challenges. Through the collaboration, volunteers will receive specialized training and preparation by Volunteer.KRD and under the framework of the JCC’s volunteer management system to ensure effective participation in emergency response operations and disaster management initiatives.
The Joint Crisis Coordination Centre highlighted the significance of the partnership, strengthening preparedness and response capacities across the Kurdistan Region. Officials described the Kurdistan Foundation as an important strategic partner due to its broad community engagement and youth-focused initiatives.
With a volunteer network of approximately 25,000 individuals, the Kurdistan Foundation brings significant human capacity and outreach to the collaboration. Both parties also referenced the recent response efforts in Chamchamal, where Kurdistan Foundation volunteers played an active and impactful role in supporting local communities during challenging circumstances, demonstrating the value of coordinated volunteer action during emergencies.
The partnership ultimately aims to build a safer, more resilient, and better-prepared society by strengthening crisis response mechanisms, investing in youth capabilities, and promoting community-based solutions to humanitarian and emergency challenges in the Kurdistan Region.
