Shilan Abdulrahman Shaban

Female
Shilan Abdulrahman Shaban, born on January 1, 2002, in Akre, is a biologist, artist, and founder of Shila Pigments, the first natural pigment brand in Kurdistan and Iraq. Inspired by her love for both art and the environment, she began creating nontoxic pigments from stones, plants, and food waste, offering artists a sustainable alternative to chemical-based paints. Her work blends science, tradition, and creativity, promoting environmental responsibility while reconnecting people to the natural world. Through Shila Pigments, Shilan has led workshops, exhibited her work, and collaborated with rural women to source raw materials, turning her initiative into a community-driven project. Her achievements include completing the Student Leaders Program (MEPI) in the United States, winning 2nd place in the Arab Youth Green Voices Competition (2023) and being selected for the Orange Corners Incubator in the Kurdistan Region. Growing up in a small city with big dreams, and facing the loss of her father, Shilan learned resilience and determination early on. Guided by her belief that creativity should heal rather than harm, she continues to push boundaries, inspire others, and prove that innovation can flourish anywhere, even in the most unexpected places
