Sarhat Nariman Khamo

Male
Sarhat Nariman Khamo, born on June 1, 1999, in Duhok, is an independent Kurdish filmmaker driven by a deep passion for telling the untold stories of his people. From an early age, he was captivated by the beauty of Kurdish culture and history yet noticed how rarely these stories were seen on screen. This realization became a calling one he embraced as both an artist and a responsibility to his community. Graduating from the American University of Kurdistan as an accountant, Sarhat followed his true passion for storytelling. He founded Kurdonia Pictures, through which he has created eight short films that have been selected for numerous national and international festivals, winning two Rawanga Awards and representing Kurdish cinema in countries across the world from the United States and Germany to India and Japan. In 2023, he directed The Shepherd, the first Kurdish sci-fi short film, made with minimal resources but earning nominations alongside productions with far greater budgets. In addition to filmmaking, Sarhat runs Bahoz Media Agency, offering social media management, graphic design, and video production. Yet, at his core, he remains a storyteller committed to showing the world who the Kurdish people are and proving that powerful stories can be told regardless of budget, resources, or obstacles.
