Female
Mzgin Mahdi Sulaiman, born on January 31, 2000, in Erbil/Soran, is a Computer Science graduate and environmental advocate dedicated to using technology for climate action. She founded “1000 Trees”, an initiative at Soran University that combats deforestation and promotes sustainability through community-led tree planting and awareness campaigns. Her innovation extends to AquaBot, a solar-powered, AI-integrated system designed to detect and clean freshwater pollution in Iraq. Mzgin has represented her work in programs such as Huawei Seeds for the Future, the Global Solutions Summit, HITEX, the Tulip Foundation, and IREX leadership initiatives, gaining the skills and networks to drive impactful change. Despite challenges such as limited funding and awareness around climate change, Mzgin continues to persevere motivated by both the encouragement and skepticism she has encountered along the way. For her, being recognized among Kurdistan’s impactful youth is not only an honor but a driving force to keep creating meaningful change and “keep swimming” toward a more sustainable future.
