Zhigger Khorsheed Abozaid, born April 24, 1996, in Duhok, Zhigger is a mentor, consultant, and social entrepreneur with over 8 years of experience advancing education, youth leadership, and community development in Kurdistan. Trained as a veterinarian and English scholar, he combines evidence-based problem solving with hands on program leadership. Zhigger founded multiple initiatives, including the Social Club of Duhok University, IVSA Duhok (Iraq’s first veterinary student chapter), Club Alpbach Iraq, and the youth group “Let Us Save What Remains.” He leads Open Space Academy, which provides practical training to close the digital divide, and coordinates the UNDP-supported Peace & Reconciliation Working Group, convening over 250 organizations. He’s an experienced facilitator and trainer, delivering hundreds of hours of leadership, finance, and project management workshops. Zhigger’s work bridges local and global stages, holding roles in the European Forum Alpbach Network Committee and mentoring youth through programs like IYLEP and World Learning. Despite challenges like skepticism and limited resources, Zhigger persists by prototyping and partnering to create impact. For him, Ganjina is a platform to represent his community, uplift youth, and open doors for others.
