Goran Jawdat, born January 1, 1994, in Sulaymaniyah, is a software engineer at Microsoft with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer engineering and nearly a decade of experience from startups to global tech giants. Having lived abroad for nine years, he has collaborated with people from diverse cultures, shaping his growth personally and professionally. Passionate about using technology to serve humanity, especially Kurdistan, Goran organized Kurdistan’s first hackathon, HackaErbil, won global competitions including Google Dublin and Microsoft hackathons, and earned a U.S. patent in 2023 for a new method of managing large-scale data center changes. Overcoming challenges like limited early education and building skills without mentorship, Goran turned setbacks into steppingstones. Guided by faith and purpose, he said, “I see this as an opportunity to inspire my fellow Kurdistanis to think big and not settle for little.”
