Hakar Subhi, an environmental activist from Amedi, Duhok, is the founder of Yak Dar (One Tree), a movement dedicated to tree planting and environmental awareness across Kurdistan. What began in 2017 as a small school activity has grown into a registered nonprofit running campaigns in multiple cities. Hakar has represented youth voices at global climate forums, including COP28 and COP29, and is an active member of Climate Faces, WYPW, and FYEG. His work has inspired communities, empowered young people, and strengthened a culture of sustainability in the Kurdistan Region and beyond.
